Chelsi Pearl Smith was the sixth American to win the Miss Universe title after a break of fifteen years. Chelsi is also the first ever mixed-race to win the Miss Galveston County pageant .

The platform of Galveston County beauty pageant gave her the chance to compete for the Miss USA crown which she won. This again enabled her to compete in the Miss Universe Pageant in 1995 which she won. She also won the Miss amiable award at the pageant.

After pageantry, she became a full time model. Her clients included Jantzen and Pontiac, to mention a few. She also became an actress, a musician and a writer of music lyrics.

We lost her to liver cancer in 2018.
