FIRST FEMALE COACH TO WIN THE AFROBASKET CHAMPIONSHIP

Rena Wakama has made history as the first female coach to win the Afrobasket Championship since 1966 when it first started. Her victorious history was made in Rwanda at the recently concluded African tournament on August fifth 2023.

Ms Wakama is herself a former basketball player in Nigeria, USA and the UK before she went on to acquire a degree. And then worked at a managerial level outside her country, Nigeria.

In a space of less than two months, Ms Wakama, the first female coach to win the Afrobasket championship, scouted for new talents. To scout the new talents, she actually went through the thirty-six states of Nigeria and beyond. Europe and the Americas to be exact.

And then she got them in tune. Meaning that she pushed them very hard. Leading them to win the championship. With this win, her leadership and management skills shone forth.

Cheers to the valiant Amazon of D’Tigress. What do we expect from these women in France 2024? Share your hopes in the comments section below.
