After forty years absence from Miss Universe pageant, Guadeloupe has Coraly Desplan MUG ’24. Ms. Desplan was the best of ten other competitors. The glamorous event took place on the 16th of August 2024. So, this radiant twenty-year-old will be in Mexico to represent Guadeloupe in November 2024.
Last year 2023, Coraly Desplan MUG ’24 was Miss Pointe-Noire. She is also a student of Optomology and is passionate about sickle cell in Guadeloupe. Also, when Coraly is not advocating for the solution to sickle cell or being a student, she is modelling.
While celebrating the latest Miss Universe Guadeloupe, we wonder why it took forty years to return to Miss Universe. Could it be that as an island owned by France, they were barred? Or is it that they were content with competing as French citizens? Or maybe it was the convenience of someone else taking on the stress of having their own pageant? Funding can be a huge hassle. So maybe the lack of funds led to the long break.
In closing, Ms. Coraly Desplan says dreams come true. And we believe in ourselves, be authentic and let our passion guide us.
