TODAY IS INTERNATIONAL PAGEANT DAY.

Today is International Pageant Day all over the world. This 8th day of April is celebrated globally as the day of pageants every year since 2018, when it was announced and first celebrated.

Now, this celebration is to remember the women who compete in pageants. And to encourage girls and young women to remember the benefits of pageants. Which is basically to promote females all over the world. Plus on International Pageant Day, pageants all over the world sell their forms at a discount.

That is not all, also companies may sell outfits used for pageants, at a discount. Before we go further, let us take a quick look at when beauty pageants were concieved and the first competition.

History and Progress:-

The first beauty pageant was said to be in 1839 before the first competitive pageant took place in Atlantic City, America in 1921 in the presence of over one hundred thousand witnesses. Now this first beauty competition was to boost the tourist attraction of Atlantic City.

After that, the first world wide beauty competition was in 1952 in Britain. It was the first Miss World contest. Then this same American pageant also became world wide in 1952, one year after.

Since then, the pageants progressed to have the first woman of colour from Grenada becoming Miss World in 1970. By 1977, Miss Universe came up with Janelle Penny Commissiong as their winner. And since then, there has been no going back with all the international pageants. In fact, the positions seem to have gradually become more balanced and encompassing of all the races of the world.

After all said and done, beauty pageants have come a long way from 1951 and are doing pretty well. The prerequisites have moved on from only physical appearances to more holistic beauty, other aspects, and even social responsibility.

So, cheers ladies, pageant organizers and we pageant mongers, for the journey thus far. We believe we are doing great. So why not share your most memorable pageant moments in the comments section below.
